A little bit about
South Hams Arborists
South Hams Arborists was established in 2013 by Ben Hoare and Dan Haslam, whilst they were on the level 3 extended diploma course in Arboriculture and Forestry at Bicton College, Devon. Ben took over the sole running of the business during Summer, 2013.

Whilst attending Bicton College, Ben achieved the following qualifications and awards:
- Level 3 extended diploma in Forestry and Arboriculture
- NPTC CS30- chainsaw maintenance and crosscutting
- NPTC CS31- Small tree felling (10 inches diameter)
- NPTC CS38- Climbing and aerial rescue
- NPTC CS39- Use of a chainsaw from a rope and harness
- NPTC wood chipper
- Emergency first aid at work certificate.
Since graduating from Bicton College in Summer 2013, Ben and his team have gone on to achieve further, nationally-recognised qualifications to ensure that they are fully qualified for all aspects of arboriculture, and not just the minimum, basic qualifications required for insurance purposes.
These include:
- NPTC CS32 Medium Tree Felling
- NPTC CS33 Large Tree Felling
- NPTC CS41 Tree Rigging
- Chapter 8 signing and lighting, suitable for working on a public highway
